My name is Sunny Kim. I am a Mild/Moderate Education Specialist here at Barnard Elementary.
My journey in education began at UCLA, where I earned my degree and developed a deep interest in educational equity. Following graduation, I joined AmeriCorps, working through a program called Project Read in East Palo Alto. The program gave me the opportunity to support students and families at risk, which solidified my commitment to using education as a transformative force.
I joined the Barnard Elementary community as a general education teacher. After several years in the classroom, I transitioned into the role of Education Specialist three years ago. In this position, I’ve been able to advocate for students with unique learning need and work closely with families and teachers.
