My name is Shengnan Zhang, aka Zhang Laoshi. I was born and raised in Shanghai, China. This is my 16th year teaching, and 12th year at Barnard. Before Barnard, I taught Chinese in high schools and college in the mid-west. I have two kids of my own, and both of them are students at Barnard. I am currently teaching 5th grade at Barnard and have previously taught Kindergarten and 3rd grade.
Our family is usually busy with sports and other activities after school. When I am not teaching, other than hanging out with my family, I also enjoy reading, watching movies, traveling, trying new foods, cooking and baking.
